Immersions and Retreats

God is good all the time. All the time God is good.

We welcome first time and recurring groups to join us at any time throughout the year. Some groups have been coming back for decades! Group sizes vary widely from about 5 to 25 participants. See our rates and accommodations page for more information on planning your visit or contact us now to get more details or make a reservation!

Trip Focus and Themes

At Big Laurel, we invite visiting groups to be part of our mission and community. We encourage volunteers and guests to join us in living simply, serving others, asking hard questions, challenging stereotypes, and being present to the world around us.

We strive to include a variety of the following themes during immersion and service trips:

  • Environmental Sustainability

  • Biodiversity in Appalachia

  • Appalachian Culture

  • Coal, Fossil Fuels, and the Future of Energy
