The John A. Sheppard Memorial Ecological Reservation (JASMER) is a 501 (c) (3) corporation located along Marrowbone Ridge in northern Mingo County, West Virginia. Edwina Sheppard Pepper, who lived on Marrowbone Ridge for decades, founded the 456-acre ecological reservation in 1976 as a way to perpetuate her dream of creating a land trust that would also be a community dedicated to the protection of the natural environment and the preservation of mountain culture and tradition.

JASMER's
Mission Statement

JASMER is a community land trust dedicated to the protection of animals, forests, and the preservation of mountain culture and tradition. We strive to live in harmony with the land and build community with those who love it.
