:: Earth Day Programs
On Earth Day, April 22, the Web of Life Ecology Center hosts a celebration for local youth. Gardening, recycling, creating art, and litter hikes are some of the activities that heighten participants' awareness to care for Earth. This year we made tye dye shirts and planted marigolds!
Participants decorate trash cans that are then placed on the road near the ecology center to help stop littering. |

Two participants spend time gardening. |

:: Solstice and Equinox Celebrations
The seasons are celebrated in ritual, prayer, and song. In September of 2006, twelve local parents and children celebrated by creating leaf prints, roasting marshmallows, and sharing stories around the bonfire.
:: Harvest Hoopla
In October we celebrate the fall season with the Harvest Hoopla. Children learn how plants and animals prepare for winter. In 2004, the activities included a hay ride, creating scarecrows, making music in a percussion circle, roasting marshmallows in a campfire, playing games, and woodworking for teenagers.
|
We made two scarecrows during the event, and two lucky families got to take them home. |
