| Our Facilities: The Knob
The Knob is the homesite for the John A. Shepherd Memorial Ecological Reservation [JASMER], our 300 acre land trust. The Knob was built over many years by Edwina Pepper and her family, starting in the 1940s. The magazine The Mountain Call was published here in the 1970s and the Knob is now home to Nancy Hudock who serves as caretaker. Rooms are available for volunteers and the kitchen is also used to cook the meals for camps and programs at the Ecology Center.
The Knob Shop
To offset the cost of our programs we sell pottery and handmade crafts at the Knob Shop. |
Pond
Next to the Knob and a field that is used for camping is the pond. In the summer it is filled with hundreds of frogs, goldfish, and a snapping turtle. |
